Grief as Fire

By now, we've all probably all heard about not being defined by our worst moments, whether as victims or offenders. Indeed, tragedy strikes, yet resolving grief demands deep work that tests who we are and who runs our lives.

Do we take our power back, or do we stay insulated by a swath of anger, buried in our wounds? Sometimes that anger turns to rage, and that's no good for anyone. Some of us implode while others explode, while a few use the fire as the phoenix.

Here follows a quote by Lucius Annaeus Seneca that helped me through the Dark Night of the Soul— 'Ignis aurum probat, miseria fortes viros". Fire is the test of gold; adversity, of strong men.'

C.S. Lewis grieved and it tested his beliefs in everything, including faith.
